Sutcliffe Floral Shop
When Kelly, the owner of this longtime family-run flower shop, asked us to create a mural to celebrate their 80-year legacy and make it clear the building was home to blooms, we knew we wanted to do more than just paint flowers—we wanted to tell a story.
The mural features flowers commonly found in their arrangements—each one carefully chosen with intention and love.
While we don’t often get requests for realistic florals, we absolutely love painting them. Every flower featured in the mural is one they actually sell in the shop. At the heart of the design are five special flowers, each representing the favorite bloom of Kelly, her husband, and their three daughters. It’s a quiet tribute—passersby may not know, but for the family, it holds deep meaning. We always aim to blend our distinct artistic style with the stories and values of our clients, and this piece is a perfect example of that.
This project remains one of our all-time favorites. Throughout the painting process, we were moved by the community’s enthusiasm—from kind words and photos to the two kids who helped us with the sunflower (their names are hidden in our signature). We hope this mural brings as much joy to Flagstaff as Sutcliffe has over the decades.
We also had the joy of designing a new logo for the shop, incorporating the three favorite flowers of their daughters into a joyful mark they now use across their brand. See our branding page for the logo design!
